Stephenson Adding Machine |
![]() |
"This example of the
Stephenson is nickel plated, in good condition, and operating perfectly with an easy,
smoothe action. This item was intended for use asn aid for paper adding. Single digits are
entered in the right wheel, and carries are automatically executed on the left wheel,
which goes up to 19, making the total capacity 199. I do not believe any example of this
machine reach a 209 capacity. Obverse is shown with ruler for size reference. Section of
reverse at 2x magnification is shown below. The lettering is hard to read, so
transcription is provided. Note: this does not appear to be one of the many later copies
of this device made into the 1920's. It appear date from the original introduction."
